Maybe every song is really like a Rorschach test. Just Jack's Starz in Their Eyes makes me think a couple of things. One is, if you want something to happen, you have to make it happen. It won't happen just because you dream about it. Two is, be yourself. Don't try to be what others think you should be.

So in the lyrics it says, “It’s a long way to go from the Dog and Duck karaoke machines, and Saturday night’s broken dreams,” or something like that. So I thought, “WTF is a Dog and Duck Karaoke Machine?”.
The Dog and Duck in Walthamstow. “There’s a couple of pool tables (often surrounded by teenagers) a large beer garden, a jukebox and karaoke evenings all offered by depressed looking staff. ”
