Between Christmas Eve and New Years Eve I will post my top eight favorite songs of the year. These tunes were selected from the 51 songs of the week that were submitted by Michael Zampelli during 2010. Song number eight for 2010 is Firework by Katy Perry. It was the video for this song that really made it a winner on my list. The imagery in the video includes fireworks exploding out of people's hearts and a demonstration of breaking out of self-imposed prison when the chunky girl at the party sheds her fear of whether or not her body is "too big" and just gets in the pool as she is. The video is inspiring and a great reminder to nurture that inner spark. Lyrics include "ignite the light and let it shine" and "come on let your colors burst." A great song to galvanize your mind.
