Disturbing the Universe Opened in 7 U.S. Cities

The film chronicles the life story of late radical civil rights lawyer, William Kuntsler. Produced and directed by Kuntsler's daughters Emily and Sarah, this powerful film recounts the historic causes that Kunstler fought for and reveals a man who risked public outrage and the safety of his family so that justice could serve all. The film will open at the Cable Car Cinema, in Providence, RI on Friday, November 27th and has been extended for the third week in a row at Cinema Village in New York City. William Kunstler: Disturbing the Universe Opens at Nu Art Theatre

If you like a story about going against the odds and fighting for justice, you might enjoy William Kunstler: Disturbing the Universe. The film opened today at the Nu Art in Los Angeles. Gary Goldstein of the LA Times calls it a "superior documentary" with "terrific archival footage from a range of seminal civil rights events." Filmmakers Emily Kunstler and Sarah Kuntsler explore the life of their father, the late radical civil rights lawyer. In the 1960s and 70s, William Kuntsler fought for civil rights with Martin Luther King Jr. and represented the famed "Chicago 8" activists who protested the Vietnam War. When the inmates took over Attica prison, or when the American Indian Movement stood up to the federal government at Wounded Knee, they asked Kunstler to be their lawyer. To his daughters, it seemed that he was at the center of everything important that had ever happened. But when they were growing up, Kunstler represented some of the most reviled members of society, including rapists and assassins. This powerful film not only recounts the historic causes that Kunstler fought for; it also reveals a man that even his own daughters did not always understand, a man who risked public outrage and the safety of his family so that justice could serve all. Photographer Michael Zampelli Talks about Shooting Roller Derby

Michael Zampelli takes photos of the Los Angeles Kings when they play at Staples Center. He also takes photos of the L.A. Derby Dolls from time to time. Today he called into The Sheri and Erin show to help them iron out any kinks in their first test episode. During the show we talked about Drew Barrymore's directorial debut Whip It and how it sends a positive message for women and girls. Ellen Page and Alia Shawkat take time for a behind the scenes interview about Drew Barrymore's "Whip It" at the Toronto International Film Festival. This interview captures the spirit of roller derby which includes team spirit, feminism, fun, diversity and a DIY culture. Page talks about how much she loved the "Whip It" script and working with director, Drew Barrymore. She especially likes how the movie sends a positive message for young women to accept themselves as they are. "We have a constant saturation in the media, especially with stories about women that involve a lot of judgment and a lot of nastiness" Page said. "Here's an atmosphere where women...can be really aggressive and that's okay...but also have this sense of camaraderie, you know; beat the crap out of each other and then go have beers afterwards, and laugh about it and to really be there for each other and to have a world that's just judgementless. And that's pretty nice." I agree, that is pretty nice. That's why it's worth it to go see this movie and take a young woman that you care about. Opens in theaters on October 2.
