The number one song on the Galvanized Music Countdown is none other than Bonkers by Dizzee Rascal and Armand Van Helden. This is a fun tune about living your life and not caring what others think of you. Great to sing along and dance to.
Here are a few sample lyrics:
Some people think I’m bonkers but I just think I’m free
Some people pay for thrills but I get mine for free
Man I’m just livin’ my life, there’s nothing crazy ’bout me

Song two on the countdown is Take That by Wiley (feat. Chew Fu). The song is spunky and powerful and the video is hypnotic. It’s a great song to listen to if you want to be bold and dare to let go of concern about what others think of you.
This song is currently not available on the US iTunes Store.
Between Christmas Eve and New Years Eve I will post my top eight favorite songs of the year. These tunes were selected from the 51 songs of the week that were submitted by Michael Zampelli during 2009.

Song six on the countdown was released 30 years ago but thanks to YouTube, this year I experienced the song in a new way. I used to listen to PiL on my walkman and I always felt energized. Sometimes I even danced around when I heard it. But it never occurred to me that groups of young people would be going wild about it on American Banstand.
John Lydon sure did know how to activate a crowd and watching him in action makes it worth bringing this song out of the vault.
