Japandroids and I Don’t Want to Worry about Dying

Wednesday, March 10th, 2010

I am currently in the eye of a transformational storm that’s running through my life. Just today I wrote in my icreatehabits.com blog about “waking up” and living life versus fearing death. Right after I wrote about it, I heard Young Hearts Spark Fire by Japandroids on XMU. One of the repeating lyrics is “I don’t wanna worry about dying I just wanna worry about the sunshine girls”. Crank it up and sing a long. Life is in session now.

Lyrics for Young Hearts Spark Fire by Japandroids

We finished our own lives
Now we finished off the wine
Now we’re used to staying up all night
Two hearts beating OH YEAH! OH YEAH!

Well you can keep tomorrow
after tonight we’re not gonna need it
Be there! (be there)
Be down! (be down)
Background, we’re too drunk to feel it

OOOOHHH!!!
We used to dream
Now we worry about dying

I don’t wanna worry about dying
I just wanna worry about those sunshine girls

YOUNG HEARTS!
SPARK FIRE!
ALL NIGHT!
OH YEAH! OH YEAH!

Well you can keep tomorrow
after tonight we’re not gonna need it
Be there! (be there)
Be down! (be down)
Background, we’re too drunk to feel it

OOOOHHH!!!
We used to dream
Now we worry about dying

I don’t wanna worry about dying
I just wanna worry about sunshine girls

OOOOHHH!!!

I don’t wanna worry about dying
I just wanna worry about the sunshine girls

Song of the Week – 1-12-10 – The Big Pink by Velvet

Tuesday, January 12th, 2010

This week’s song is yummy on so many levels. I’ve heard it in my car numerous times, zooming at 75 on the 405 while listening to XMU. Good stuff for that.

I’m seeing the video for the first time now. Wow, this is powerful. And the sound. Need I mention the sound? The Big Pink recently signed to 4AD Records. Indulge yourself.

Song #1 of the 2009 Galvanized Music Countdown

Thursday, December 31st, 2009

The number one song on the Galvanized Music Countdown is none other than Bonkers by Dizzee Rascal and Armand Van Helden. This is a fun tune about living your life and not caring what others think of you. Great to sing along and dance to.

Here are a few sample lyrics:

Some people think I’m bonkers but I just think I’m free
Some people pay for thrills but I get mine for free
Man I’m just livin’ my life, there’s nothing crazy ’bout me

Song #3 of the 2009 Galvanized Music Countdown

Tuesday, December 29th, 2009

Song three on the countdown was the first song of the week for 2009: I am by Novel. I love the lyrics and how in the video each person has a light emanating from their chest/heart area, highlighting the fact that we are all one and that we are more than our bodies. I have replayed this song many times over the year as a way to remind myself of both of those things.

You can visit the original posting of this song for sample song lyrics and more information about the collaboration between Novel and Ben Folds.
