What if your thinking creates your body? Take the example of Daisy. She always felt like she’d look better if she lost 5 or 10 pounds. From the time she was 16-years-old, she said things like, “I’d like to go swimming but I’m too fat to wear a bathing suit.” Or, “What guy would want to date a fatty like me?”
At age 31, after 15 years of referring to herself as “fat” she finally became “fat.” Now she looks at pictures from high school in astonishment. “How could I ever have thought of myself as fat? I only wish I were that “fat” now!” She says.
The truth is, our thoughts have a powerful impact on our behavior. Consider the following example:
Original Thought: “I’ll never lose weight.”
Reaction: I might as well eat this cake. What’s the point of going to the gym?
Result: You eat the cake, skip the gym and prove yourself right!
Perhaps you have a thought such as "I am fat". Just because you think it, doesn't mean it's true. You need evidence to support your statement, so you glance down at one of your problem areas or stare at a roll of fat over your jeans. Now, you have "proof". You react. Maybe you react on a subconscious or biological level, (i.e. you feel bad). Your body is reacting on a chemical/cellular level.
The longer you hold the thought, “I am fat” and stare at the accompanying “proof” the more real and intense your belief becomes. Sometimes you feel so fat and miserable that you decide, "what's the point?" and reach for high-fat, high-sugar comfort food to feel better. Or, you starve yourself and wreak havoc on your metabolism and set yourself up for future overeating. If you continue this cycle, you are in the process of creating a weight problem.
Here’s how the scenario might play out if you choose to be in control of your mind/body reaction. You have a thought: "I am fat" but his time you are aware of the power of your thoughts. You refuse to look in the mirror or feel your fat rolls to "prove it". Instead, you tell yourself, "I accept my body as it is now and allow it to become thinner" or you tell yourself, "no, that's a lie, I am actually beautiful, strong and capable." Now you are in the process of creating a new self-fulfilling prophecy and you will feel drawn to “prove” your new beliefs.
Some of us feel "fat" because we are comparing ourselves to a thinner person. In that case we can say to ourselves statements like: “I am doing my best” and “I maintain the right to determine what is attractive by my own standards.” Other times, the "fat" feeling is triggered by temporary bloating. In that case say, "I am temporarily bloated but that's not the same as fat."
Some of us have a very distorted body image. Many women I've worked with have noted that they feel fat or see themselves as fat even after they’ve reached a goal they thought would make them feel great. We can take the power out of "I am fat" by stating the facts such as: "I am at my goal weight" or "I'm at the size that's right for me."
Choosing these new perspectives over the old, automatic reactions will cause your body to have an entirely different response. You will have stopped the chain of events that probably triggered overeating or feelings of defeat in the past. Therefore, slowly but surely you begin creating a new reality. You no longer fall prey to the old, automatic reactions of beating yourself up or overeating.
If you continue to take charge of your thinking, your setbacks will be smaller, shorter and farther in between. Gradually, you will gain control of your mind and body so you can find a weight that’s comfortable for you. It begins with awareness and a choice. We are all capable of becoming more aware and making positive choices.

If you're like me, you probably need constant reminders to help you stay focused on positive feelings. If you believe in the Law of Attraction, these cards might be a good tool to help further your understanding and use of the Law of Attraction in your life and to keep you focused.
The Law of Attraction basically states that whatever you focus on most, is what you will experience the most in your life. Part of the philosophy is also to try and stay in a positive mental and emotional state such as love, joy or peace. When you are in this state, you are "attractive" and people and situations seem to work in your favor more often. At the very least, you feel better.
Since most of us ultimately want to feel good, why not start with deciding to feel good rather than trying to get good feelings from somewhere else or from "doing" something.
I have a card pack similar to this only I created my own personal affirmations which can also be powerful. But if you don't have the time or inclination to create your own cards, try buying some cards like this instead. You can keep them someplace handy like your purse or car and flip through them anytime you have a spare moment. Great way to boost your mood and focus your mind.

This morning I read an e-mail from Oprah. She posted a short video of Regie Hamm and asked her insider community to answer this question: "Regie Hamm found his fame on American Idol and his heart through a special needs child. What has caused your life to shift?"
I responded with this answer:
In the past, all of my shifts in life came about from "hitting bottom. But this year I have experienced major shifts in my life as a result of love and friendship. About one year ago I had a "chance" meeting with Erin. We became fast friends and eventually we started our own BlogTalkRadio show. The conversations I have with Erin are life-transforming, mainly because of her ability to remain non-judgmental and to listen to what I have to say. I would like to think I offer the same benefit to her and we have both become a better version of our "Selves" because of this relationship. As a result of this relationship and our talk show together, we are able to reach out to others so they can also experience the impact of friendship, mutual respect and unconditional love. This is a very gratifying, soul-satisfying way to experience the shift and I hope to shift even more as I move toward my greater destiny.
About one year ago I met my friend and co-host Erin at church. The fact that we met at church is no big deal. But what makes it seem miraculous is that she only went to this church one time and one time only and I am a sporadic attendee. So, the chances of us meeting were very slim. She was sitting in the after-church refreshment area alone and I invited her to sit next to me. I didn't know many people and I always liked it when someone made me feel welcome so I simply extended a gesture. We discovered instantly that we had many similar interests and we became fast friends. Over the past year we have had hundreds of phone conversations for thousands of hours. After 4 months of knowing each other, we started a BlogTalkRadio show so we could talk some more and also share our insights and favorite things with an internet audience. The experience of having a show has been so magical that we hope we can do even more and eventually get a T.V. talk show together. In any case, our friendship has impacted our lives and the lives of many others all because of a "chance" meeting.
I think it's important to share the good things in life with each other. On The Sheri and Erin Show we dedicate the second Thursday of the month to talk about Master Minding. This is a great way to build mutually respectful and supportive relationships with other people. Click on the player below to hear one of our shows about Master Minding or visit our show page today.
Today I felt inspired to get out Stephanie's Tantric Toning video and get my Chi flowing. The subtitle for this video is The Stress-Free Workout. I was thinking, "hey, my hypnosis CD is called Stress-Free Slimming. The two of these products together would be so inspiring!"

I'm really dead serious about it. Because for what seems like eternity I have been hating and condeming my body and everything about me day and night, night and day.
Now, if the Law of Attraction is true, how can I possibly attract anything good to myself if I am in CONSTANT struggle? That makes about as much sense as dancing and trying not to dance.
I've created a program called Donate Your Weight and it's not about trying to be perfect or reach an unrealistic ideal. It's about listening to yourself. It's about going back to who you were before everyone started piling an overwhelming amount of rules and regulations on top of you. It's about being free.
If that's what you're ready for, then come check us out. We have a free, membership-based on-line community and you can purchase our study at-home course and do this process at your own pace.
The fish doesn't know it's swimming in water. We don't realize we swim in energy. I was swimming in the energy of "I suck" most of my life and I had no idea. I needed hundreds of people to reflect something different back to me before I "got" who I actually am. I spent my entire life downgrading every aspect of my being. I hated my body, I criticized my creativity, I missed the joy of being surrounded by some very cool people and events most of my life. I was present in body but not in mind or spirit.
I was so busy replaying the stories and self-criticism that I picked up along the journey of my life that I could not be present. I could not hear your words of praise and I could not feel your love. I thought you were lying. I thought you were just trying to be nice. I had no idea you actually meant it and it could actually be true.
Self-criticism was my life. My mom has pumping self-hate through her bloodstream while I was in her womb. She was drinking Diet Coke and smoking cigarettes, trying not to gain weight. After I was born, she was starving herself to try and attain a weight of 105. One time the Department of Social Services came out to our apartment because the neighbors were concerned that I had been left alone. What happened is that my mom passed out due to starvation and I was left to fend for myself. How can a teen mom with this much self-hate possibly teach a child about self-love?
I think many women have become accustomed to self-criticism and it is a learned comfort zone. Self-hatred is a norm. Women who seem too confident or successful are subject to criticism, women who are "too thin" or "too curvy" are subject to body stereotypes. When a young, beautiful or successful woman threatens our security, we rip her to shreds, finding everything that's "wrong" with her and pointing it out to whoever will listen. Let's face it, many of us are not respecting ourselves or each other and it's not helping a soul.
My life experiences range from working with at-risk youth, recovering addicts, battered women, ex-cons and foster youth to wealthy hypnosis clients. I was one of 5 White kids living on the Hupa Indian Reservation in California in 1976. I've attended and lead thousands of groups, meetings, classes and workshops and worked as a therapist with hundreds of clients.
I attended more than 20 schools and lived in even more neighborhoods. I wrote for the school newspaper and interviewed a variety of interesting people for articles. I'm one of those people who naturally evokes trust and as a result, strangers, friends, aquaintances, family members and clients have sat with me since I was a child and told me intimate details of their "story."
Here's what I know: we all want the same things and we all have the same feelings. We all want love. We all want to feel important. We all want to make a difference and live a life of purpose. We all have moments where we feel powerless, afraid and alone. The majority of us have regrets about the past that we rehearse consistently. The reason we don't follow our dreams is that we don't believe in ourselves. We have excuses and rationalizations and delay tactics and drama but none of them are real. It's all a facade.
People have talked about the importance of love for decades yet the concept of self-love is practically shunned. As long as we hate ourselves, it will be difficult to make positive changes in our own lives or the lives of others. I created a CD that's all about loving yourself as you are, it's called Love Your Body, Love Yourself. I know it is powerful because I listened to a CD like this when I was in my 20's and it made a huge difference. The repetition of all those positive thoughts helped me to do things I dreamt of doing such as writing a book, getting it published, going to college and becoming a college instructor. Because of my own personal experience, I am becoming more and more diligent about choosing my thoughts and energy than ever before.
Take a moment to pause. Notice what your automatic thoughts are. Are they leading you in the direction in which you wish to go? If not, it is up to you to change it and it's quite easy and possible to do if you want to. You simply create new habits by thinking new thoughts. My book, From Sabotage to Success can be a useful tool in helping you find thoughts that aren't working for you and replacing them with thoughts that do. Another tool that's been useful to me lately is watching You Can Heal Your Life on DVD. This movie really opened my eyes to a different perception of myself and how I interact in the world. Check it out if you believe in things like The Secret or Law of Attraction.
