Gene Simmons of KISS Performs at Roller Derby Game

photo by michaelzampelli.comGene Simmons, former Kiss bassist opened the roller derby bout by perfoming the National Anthem with his partner, actress Shannon Tweed and daughter Sophie Tweed-Simmons on Saturday night. Simmons and family, along with the Family Jewels production crew were on location to document the evening's antics for an upcoming episode. The L.A. Ri-Ettes beat the Santa's Little Helpers at a score of 75-68. Family Jewels crew members taped the events taking place before, during and after the game. They got footage of Beth Penalty at her bottle-top jewelry booth in vendor village. I overheard Ms. Penalty saying that Simmons sang Beth just for her. Roller Derby and Gene Simmons in the Same Building

Riettes and Santa's Little Helpers isn't cool enough, the Derby Dolls have just announced that Gene Simmons (former Kiss bassist) will play bass guitar while his daughter, Sophie Tweed-Simmons and long-time parther Shannon Tweed open the event with the singing the national anthem. After the anthem is sung, the mayhem begins when Derby Doll all-stars, the LA Ri-ettes compete against a group of national all-stars, Santa's Little Helpers. Watch as some of the best jammers and blockers in the nation compete against each other at the Doll Factory in Los Angeles. CLICK HERE TO BUY TICKETS NOW! Tickets generally sell out before the event but if you're lucky enough to get in the night of the bout, bring your cash because it's a cash only event.
