Anxiety, Hypnosis and the Law of Attraction

Wednesday, February 18th, 2009

There’s a lot of talk about the Law of Attraction lately. In the book
Ask and It Is Given
by Esther and Jerry Hicks, there is an Emotional Guidance Scale that can help you identify your current emotional state. The list has 22 items. The top entry includes Joy, Love, Appreciation, Knowledge, Empowerment and Freedom. When you’re in this emotional state, you are more likely to attract good things into your life.

ask-and-it-is-givenThe bottom entry on the list includes Fear, Grief, Depression, Despair and Powerlessness. Worry is #14 on the list.

If you’re a worrier, you probably have some of the symptoms of anxiety:

Sleeplessness
Tension
Eczema
Insomnia
Sweaty plams
Racing heart and
Racing mind

Medication should be a short term solution for these symptoms at best. Read the fine print. Most of your medications have an overwhelming amount of side effects including death!

Hypnosis can help you decrease anxiety symptoms and all the power to do it is in your own mind under your own control.

On March 3, 2009 I’m going to give a free workshop about hypnosis for anxiety. If you’d like to download a PDF flier for the event, click here. Or, you can read my previous blog where I gave all the details.

In the meantime, if you feel anxious, remember to “reach for relief” as Esther and Jerry Hicks would say. See if you can do or think something that will make you feel a little bit better, until you eventually reach a state of Joy, or at least close to Joy.

How it Feels to Be Stressed Out

Tuesday, February 17th, 2009

Stressed Out by A Tribe Called Quest on YouTube.

Stress takes all the joy out of life. If you’ve got a lot of stress and it’s bogging you down, hypnosis can help. Hypnosis is about relaxing, chillin’ and creating an inner reality that helps you feel positive. When you change your inner world, the outer world changes too….or at least your perception of it does.

I’ll be doing a free hypnosis workshop in Long Beach on March 3 where you can learn more. For details and a downloadable flier, click here.

Radio Interview with Dr. Judy Krings for the Carol Solomon Show

Tuesday, February 10th, 2009

A few weeks ago I had a very enjoyable phone interview with Dr. Judy Krings. She was interviewing me regarding my book, Donate Your Weight. Dr. Judy and I really hit it off and in this one hour recording we got to talk about all kinds of things including behavior modification, hypnosis, self-love, spirituality, law of attraction and much more.

Having this interview made me excited about podcasting again. In a separate blog I’ll tell you about the return of the Donate Your Weight podcast with co-host Dr. Marjorie Miles.

In the meantime, you can subscribe to the show on iTunes by clicking on the iPod. That way, you’ll get the first show with the new show format on March 3. We’ll be talking about how to stop the struggle with weight and eating and how to use your self-talk to create the life you want.

Love Your Body, Trust Yourself – The Anti-Diet

Saturday, November 29th, 2008

Today I felt inspired to get out Stephanie’s Tantric Toning video and get my Chi flowing. The subtitle for this video is The Stress-Free Workout. I was thinking, “hey, my hypnosis CD is called Stress-Free Slimming. The two of these products together would be so inspiring!”

I’m really dead serious about it. Because for what seems like eternity I have been hating and condeming my body and everything about me day and night, night and day.

Now, if the Law of Attraction is true, how can I possibly attract anything good to myself if I am in CONSTANT struggle? That makes about as much sense as dancing and trying not to dance.

I’ve created a program called Donate Your Weight and it’s not about trying to be perfect or reach an unrealistic ideal. It’s about listening to yourself. It’s about going back to who you were before everyone started piling an overwhelming amount of rules and regulations on top of you. It’s about being free.

If that’s what you’re ready for, then come check us out. We have a free, membership-based on-line community and you can purchase our study at-home course and do this process at your own pace.

Don’t Smoke That Cigarette Here Please – Smoking and the Cultural Shift

Tuesday, September 9th, 2008

In our Prevention and Education Class (HS255) we talked about cultural shifts regarding smoking cigarettes. We talked about how as early as 20 years ago you could smoke anywhere you wanted, anytime, even airplanes and busses. Cigarette ads were everywhere and cigarette companies used to publicly sponsor events.

Fast forward 20 years to attitudes about smoking today. They have changed drastically.

I have been a concert goer for 25 years. I grew up smoking cigarettes in clubs. I had a cigarette holder with a clasp. Sometimes I used one of those “sexy” cigarette holders just like Audrey Hepburn. Smoking was a part of my wardrobe. Yet, this weekend, at the Nine Inch Nails concert when one bored man sitting near me decided to light up, I immediately wanted to flee.

Many people, smokers and non-smokers alike express a similar sentiment when subjected to smoking in public. How and why does a shift like this happen? Well, for starters, you might want to pick up a book titled The Tipping Point because I think it explains everything.

On another note, I quit smoking by using hypnosis and now I hypnotize people to quit smoking (among other things). So, it is only natural for me to end here and leave you with a very popular and socially acceptable form of hypnosis: recorded information played repeatedly.

Notice how singer Tex Williams isn’t upset with the dangers or smell of cigarettes, only the fact that they take up so much time and that he’s tired of waiting for people to get another smoke. Today you can’t see anything related to smoking without also hearing how bad it is for you. That’s the power of lobbying and repetition at work. Enjoy the video!

My Tree of Life is Growing – Even If I Can’t See It

Thursday, June 5th, 2008

Tree of Spirituality and GrowthThe past few months have been scary for me and many others I know. In my case, it seemed like everything was put on hold including money. My habitual response is to panic when something like this happens but with all I know about the power of the mind, I realize I Can’t Afford the Luxury of a Negative Thought. Sometimes that’s easier to say than do.

When I need powerful reassurance that everything is gonna be okay, I go to Rev. Ahman. He is excellent at tying in concepts from The Bible with A Course in Miracles and bringing them down to earth so that anyone can understand them and use them. I will post a blog with Ahman’s Mental Fast presentation within the next couple of days so you can see why I like him so much.

Ahman has given me a vision to ponder for the past few weeks. It’s me, as a tree. As I stand still and tall like a warrior, filled with faith everything I need is provided for me. The sun is absorbed by my leaves, feeding me. My roots suck in nutrients from the soil and an entire swirling mass of activity is all around me. Bugs, flies, ladybugs, butterflies, ants, wind, pollen. The constantly changing atmosphere is gradually contributing to my growth.

Yet, to look at me, it would be easy to say I look exactly the same from day to day. You cannot see growth but it is happening. It will happen faster if I let it flow, if I don’t block it with my thoughts of “not good enough”, “I’ll never make it” and “what difference does it make” and yadda, yadda, yadda. So, that’s my job, don’t allow the thoughts of resistance to block the flow that is trying to happen within me.

I can do that job pretty easily lately because I’ve been getting hypnotized by Jessica Bergvist just about once a week for the past 4 weeks. I am going with the flow more and more all the time. I have also connected with some amazing people in the past year or so. I am constantly inspired by my surroundings. Examples include hiphopphilosophy.com, working out with Your Next Victory and LA Derby Dolls, attending Agape Toastmasters and meeting with my Master Mind partners. So many wonderful people have continuted to reflect my potential back to me every day, patiently, over a period of years. They gently coaxed and nurtured me out of my state of complete self-loathing. Prior to their arrival, I was literally trapped in a shell. I could barely see out of the crudely cut holes in the cardboard box that contained me. These supportive people, in addition to my husband, have shown me a pretty cool person with a lot of potential. Believe it or not, they showed me a person I actually wanted to be but didn’t think I could be.

Darth VadarThis blog is a great example of how rapidly the “force” has been moving through me. If you look at the date on my first entry, it was May 3, 2008 (the very DAY I attended Kathe Shaff’s workshop and met Sierra and read The Ray). I have posted 27 blogs since then. I even have some pre-written blogs I haven’t published yet. I am brimming with ideas. I am unstoppable (that’s one of the suggestions Jessica put in my CD, she had me imagine I was a stream running down the side of a mountain, unstoppable, and so relaxing!)

Ahman’s son drew an outline of the tree for us to use. Each of the big leaves represents a goal you want to acheive or a vision for your life. I wrote my goals in my leaves and then colored it all in and tried to communicate some of the energy floating around this tree of me. When I focus on this image I feel happy, calm, content and satisfied. When I think of my fears and “what if” I am anxious and uptight. It doesn’t help me get anything done.

I hope you enjoy the tree. If you click on it you can see an enlarged version. If you want to support my financial unfoldment, please click on the donation button on this blog or go shopping at donateyourweight.com.

Venice Beach, Roller Derby and Wendi Friesen

Sunday, May 11th, 2008

Derby Doll Fresh Meat SkateToday I went to Venice Beach to meet up with a few of the Derby Doll Fresh Meat for a beach skate. We congregated near muscle beach then skated to the “end of the world” (Santa Monica) and back. It was fun, exhilirating, energizing and freeing. There were five of us all togehter:

L to R: Buttersnatch Sundae, Gritty in Pink, STEPHCON1, me (Gal VanIZed), Jess (still waiting on a skate name, would love one that is somehow related to a douche bag), Lusty Loveless (I probably totally got that wrong, school me fellow freshies). Also, if you want me to add your myspace links, make sure I’m your friend and/or send me your link.

Now here’s something pretty cool. I was rolling around, sorta in my own world when I hear someone calling my name. First I hear “Sheri” then I hear “Gal VanIZed.” I know for sure, this is a person who knows me. I spin around, fall to my knees and there stands Wendi Friesen. She was spending time with her son on a beautiful Southern California Mother’s Day.

Wendi Friesen and Sheri Zampelli at Venice Beach

What you have to know is, Wendi and I have been Twittering and G-mailing about a creative marketing idea. It’ll have to do with food, with hunger, and with hypnosis. You will actually come eat with us! You’ll love Wendi, she is great.

Anyway, what I’m trying to say is that here we’ve been brainstorming this idea pretty consistently for like 2 days and then boom, there we are. Me, her, Venice Beach, 2:36 p.m., in a precise area of a sprawling landscape of choices. Add to that, it was really her son that spotted us. If it wasn’t for him, well, who knows. He told his mom “look at those roller girls” and Wendi thought, “I wonder if one of them is Sheri.” There I was, a glowing beacon of pinkness standing before her.

Thousands of people are milling the aisles of the boardwalk, catching the mime show, chillin’ with the guitar guy on roller blades. You know the scene. You’ve been there or you’ve seen it in a movie. So how did it happen and why? Is it just “coincidence?” I think you’re gonna have to wait and find out.

P.S. Can I just say, I am getting a distinct vibe of L.A. Story happenin’ here.
