What Are Your Influences?

Thursday, August 26th, 2010
Every musical act has influences. The Beastie Boys and A Tribe Called Quest influenced each other. Punk bands from the U.K. influenced garage bands in Southern California and vice versa. Reggae and dub influenced each other. What are your influences? That's what we talked about in Helping and Listening Skills this week. We came up with a great list and I liked it so much I took a picture of it. I asked the students to tell me about the things that influence them. What do they value? Why do they do what they do; love what they love? This is the list they came up with: Parents Environment -Friends -Neighborhood -Peers -Religion Culture Schools Food/Nutrition Media Mental Illness Life Experience -Observation Socio-Economic Status ($$$) Books Music Relationships Friendships Family -Uncles -Aunts -Brothers -Sisters -etc. Role Model -Coach -Minister -Teacher Law Government Health Medication/Drugs Language Sleep Fashion Freedom Travel Pets Sex Arts -Pictures -Painting -Dance Entertainment Perception The point I want to make in this class is that you cannot know any of these things about yourself or anyone else unless you first learn how to listen. A great Master Mind group is one that's committed to honoring and respecting each other and that includes listening unconditionally and without judgment. It is honoring a person to trust that they know what's best for their own life. --------------- Start a Master Mind Group.comWhen you think about it, every musical act you know of is using the Master Mind principle whether they realize it or not. They are joining together as a team with a combined vision. You can use the same principle and make some truly rockin' things happen in your life. Do you have a creative project you want to complete? Do you want to find a purpose for your life? If so, I invite you to come over to my brand new page called Start a Master Mind Group.com. I'm offering 4 freebies to get you started so you can get a sense of what the Master Mind is all about. There's nothing cool about holding back.

What It Feels Like For a Girl by Madonna

Thursday, May 27th, 2010
Madonna's spunk and tenacity are inspiring to me. This song is "to every girl who did it." If you're not following your passion, it's not too late. If you need support, get the free Create the Life You Want MP3 at icreatehabits.com. Lyrics to What It Feels Like for a Girl by Madonna Silky smooth Lips as sweet as candy, baby Tight blue jeans Skin that shows in patches Strong inside but you don't know it Good little girls they never show it When you open up your mouth to speak Could you be a little weak Chorus Do you know what it feels like for a girl Do you know what it feels like in this world For a girl Hair that twirls on finger tips so gently, baby Hands that rest on jutting hips repenting Strong inside but you don't know it Good little girls they never show it When you're trying hard to be your best Could you be a little less Chorus x2 Do you know what it feels like for a girl Do you know what it feels like in this world For a girl ****************************** My most recent step toward my dream of being a T.V. talk show host was to submit an audition video to Oprah. If you believe in supporting women as they pursue their "impossible" dreams, vote for me on Oprah.com today.

Musical Road Trip to the California Poppy Reserve

Friday, May 7th, 2010
(If you don't see the video above, click here to go to YouTube) On Tuesday morning my husband came into the bedroom, where I was comfortably sleeping and proclaimed "road trip". We got in the car and drove to a destination that was a surprise to me. We ended up at the California Poppy Reserve in Antelope Valley. Along the way, we listened to music non-stop and documented the day with photos and video. In a sense, this is a mix-tape of our trip. All the car shots have music in the background. ------------------------------------------- See Michael Zampelli's photo gallery on Flickr. ------------------------------------------- We listened to Q-tip, Gary Numan, drum and bass and The Fall. We traveled from the 710 in Long Beach to the 5 freeway at Castaic Lake. Then, we took mountain roads all the way to the poppy fields. I hope this video inspires you to get out on the road or out in nature. I think we all truly need this type of rejuvenation for our sanity. California is a great place to live. If you're planning to move here and you need a Los Angeles, California moving company, check out The Wizard of Moving at OzMoving.com.

Madonna Represents Freedom to Be Yourself

Thursday, April 22nd, 2010
This song Nobody Knows Me by Madonna (see concert video on YouTube) pumps me up and gives me the courage to live my life on my own terms. I hope it does the same for you. Nobody Knows Me by Madonna Lyrics I've had so many lives Since I was a child And I realize How many times I've died I'm not that kind of guy Sometimes I feel shy I think I can fly Closer to the sky No one's telling you how to live your life But it's a set up until you're fed up This world is not so kind People trap your mind It's so hard to find Someone to admire I… I sleep much better at night I feel closer to the light Now I'm gonna try To improve my life No one's telling you how to live your life But it's a set up until you're fed up It's no good when you're misunderstood But why should I care? What the world thinks of me Won't let a stranger Give me a social disease Nobody, nobody knows me Nobody knows me Nobody knows me Nobody knows me Like you know me No one's telling you how to live your life But it's a setup, and I'm just fed up It's no good when you're misunderstood But why should I care? What the world thinks of me Won't let a stranger Give me a social disease I… I sleep much better at night I feel closer to the light Now I'm gonna try To improve my life Nobody knows me Nobody knows me Nobody knows me Like you know me Don't want your social disease Millions of us buy the albums, we crank up the CD's in our car, we go to the concerts but how many of us truly have the courage to live our lives boldly and authentically? If you have a dream that you want to make come true, now is the time to listen to the soundtrack that is your life. It is time to listen to yourself. If you need help getting unstuck, try the Create the Life You Want hypnosis download. Available at icreatehabits.com

Anxiety, Hypnosis and the Law of Attraction

Wednesday, February 18th, 2009
There's a lot of talk about the Law of Attraction lately. In the book Ask and It Is Given by Esther and Jerry Hicks, there is an Emotional Guidance Scale that can help you identify your current emotional state. The list has 22 items. The top entry includes Joy, Love, Appreciation, Knowledge, Empowerment and Freedom. When you're in this emotional state, you are more likely to attract good things into your life. ask-and-it-is-givenThe bottom entry on the list includes Fear, Grief, Depression, Despair and Powerlessness. Worry is #14 on the list. If you're a worrier, you probably have some of the symptoms of anxiety: Sleeplessness Tension Eczema Insomnia Sweaty plams Racing heart and Racing mind Medication should be a short term solution for these symptoms at best. Read the fine print. Most of your medications have an overwhelming amount of side effects including death! Hypnosis can help you decrease anxiety symptoms and all the power to do it is in your own mind under your own control. On March 3, 2009 I'm going to give a free workshop about hypnosis for anxiety. If you'd like to download a PDF flier for the event, click here. Or, you can read my previous blog where I gave all the details. In the meantime, if you feel anxious, remember to "reach for relief" as Esther and Jerry Hicks would say. See if you can do or think something that will make you feel a little bit better, until you eventually reach a state of Joy, or at least close to Joy. Hay House, Inc.

How it Feels to Be Stressed Out

Stressed Out by A Tribe Called Quest on YouTube. Stress takes all the joy out of life. If you've got a lot of stress and it's bogging you down, hypnosis can help. Hypnosis is about relaxing, chillin' and creating an inner reality that helps you feel positive. When you change your inner world, the outer world changes too....or at least your perception of it does. I'll be doing a free hypnosis workshop in Long Beach on March 3 where you can learn more. Radio Interview with Dr. Judy Krings for the Carol Solomon Show

Tuesday, February 10th, 2009
A few weeks ago I had a very enjoyable phone interview with Dr. Judy Krings. She was interviewing me regarding my book, Donate Your Weight. Dr. Judy and I really hit it off and in this one hour recording we got to talk about all kinds of things including behavior modification, hypnosis, self-love, spirituality, law of attraction and much more. Having this interview made me excited about podcasting again. In a separate blog I'll tell you about the return of the Donate Your Weight podcast with co-host Dr. Marjorie Miles. In the meantime, you can subscribe to the show on iTunes by clicking on the iPod. That way, you'll get the first show with the new show format on March 3. We'll be talking about how to stop the struggle with weight and eating and how to use your self-talk to create the life you want.
