Listening and dancing to music can be healing to the core. A series of podcasts by the Library of Congress explores the power of music and how it interacts with the brain. Current episodes now available include:

Song four on the countdown is a recent release from UK artists The Chapman Family. This song is powerful on it’s own and the video adds to the intensity of the sound. If possible, crank it up as loud as possible and let go of any remaining tension from the holidays. 2010 is almost here and it just might be the best year yet.
Between Christmas Eve and New Years Eve I will post my top eight favorite songs of the year. These tunes were selected from the 51 songs of the week that were submitted by Michael Zampelli during 2009.

The new Tongue ‘N’ Cheek LP by Dizzee Rascal blends old school hip hop and trip hop influences and lays them on top of boomin’ drum and bass beats.
Vapors of Prince and Bob Marley pass by now and again along with memories of 70’s funkmasters.
This is a release for fun-loving party people who like to live life with a heavy pulse.
Dizzee Rascal released the Tongue “N” Cheek LP on September 21 in the UK, It is not currently available on iTunes so I’m not sure if it’s available in the US but CDNow.com seems to have some in stock.
The 11 track release has a strong flavor of Basement Jaxx mixed with Groove Armada. If you liked Wild Cherry, KC and the Sunshine Band or Groove is in the Heart by Dee Lite, you should like this just fine.

Will you be victorious or will the paranoia pull you in?
Lyrics for Uprising by Muse
The paranoia is in bloom, the PR
The transmissions will resume
They’ll try to push drugs
Keep us all dumbed down and hope that
We will never see the truth around
Another promise, another scene, another
A package not to keep us trapped in greed
With all the green belts wrapped around our minds
And endless red tape to keep the truth confined
They will not force us
They will stop degrading us
They will not control us
We will be victorious
Interchanging mind control
Come let the revolution take it’s toll if you could
Flick the switch and open your third eye, you’d see that
We should never be afraid to die
Rise up and take the power back, it’s time that
The fat cats had a heart attack, you know that
Their time is coming to an end
We have to unify and watch our flag ascend
They will not force us
They will stop degrading us
They will not control us
We will be victorious
They will not force us
They will stop degrading us
They will not control us
We will be victorious

You can get it if you really want
You can get it if you really want
You can get it if you really want
But you must try, try and try
Try and try
you’ll succeed at last
I know it
Listen to me
Rome was not built in a day
Opposition will come your way
But the hotter the battle you see
It’s the sweeter the victory, now
You can get it if you really want
You can get it if you really want
You can get it if you really want
But you must try, try and try
Try and try, you’ll succeed at last
Persecution you must bear
Win or lose you’ve got to get your share
Got your mind set on a dream
You can get it, though hard it may seem now
You can get it if you really want
You can get it if you really want
You can get it if you really want
But you must try, try and try
Try and try
You’ll succeed at last
You can get it if you really want
You can get it if you really want
You can get it if you really want
But you must try, try and try
Try and try
You’ll succeed at last
You can get it if you really want – I know it
You can get it if you really want – I show it
You can get it if you really want – So don’t give up now
You can get it if you really want – Keep on doing it
