Rivers Cuomo Story Featured on ‘Week Around the Ists’ List

Rivers Cuomo at Fingerprints in Long Beach photo by Michael ZampelliEarlier this week, I was excited to share details about a piece I wrote for the LAist. It was about the in-store hootenanny with Rivers Cuomo of Weezer and the release of his latest CD: Alone II - The Home Recordings of Rivers Cuomo. Today the story was featured on a "Week Around the Ists" list. That means, a mention of the story and a link will be syndicated around the world at the following websites: Gothamist.com (New York), SFist.com (San Francisco), Seattlest.com (Seattle, WA), Shanghaiist.com (Shanghai), Houstonist.com (Houston, TX), Londonist.com (London), Chicagoist.com (Chicago), Torontoist.com (Toronto, Canada), DCist (Washington, DC) and more. Woo hoo. That means my words get to go on a world tour.

Audible Mainframe – I’m Hearing a Black Eyed Peas Influence

Audible_MainframeAudible Mainframe wear A Tribe Called Quest and Run DMC t-shirts in their publicity photo. On their MySpace page they quote Tamara Turner (CDBaby.com) who writes this about them, "Food for the mind, food for the compassionate humanity in us all, food for discrimating ears. Yum." Audible Mainframe's list of influences include Rage Against The Machine, Bob Dylan, The Clash, Steve Wonder, Kafka, Bob Marley, Dostoyevsky, Peter Tosh, Karl Marx, PUBLIC ENEMY, Billie "motherfuckin" Holiday, The Roots, JAMES BROWN and A Tribe Called Quest. But I think they left one influence off the list: Black Eyed Peas. So, if you like any of the above musicians and you also enjoy music with a message and a beat, you might want to check out Audible Mainframe. You can visit their MySpace page, their website or you can go see 'em live at The Blue Cafe on Thursday, July 10 at 17208 Pacific Coast Hwy in Huntington Beach, CA. I'm pretty sure I'll be there with Rinkrat taking photos for www.laist.com. itunes logoBuy Audible Mainframe on iTunes.
