I had a group member named Cindy who "outdid" me and I was ashamed and jealous. Watching her forced me to come face to face with the ways I was obstructing my own progress.
I had some emotional issues to deal with and I didn't want to. Eventually it became clear that I had to face those issues if I wanted to have the strength and dignity to carry on. I kept going to weekly meetings even though I felt uncomfortable and I started to take steps to get out of emotional funk. I'm so grateful I was faced with that challenge because my life is truly better than ever as a result.
