Expand Your Network with Master Minding

I originally found out about Master Minding from Dr. Nancy Bonus. She described it as a way we could support each other in our goals and stay accountable. This sounded perfect to me because I didn't know anyone who was talking about goals or willing to help me stay accountable and I needed help! The truth is, sometimes your social circle and even your family wants to stay stuck and they don't want you to move forward. Sometimes they actually sabotage your success. This is simply an unconscious defense mechanism to maintain the equilibrium/status quo out of fear of change. A great thing about Master Minding is we get to see a bigger picture of the people in our group and the world at large. It is common for us to compartmentalize people. For example, if we meet someone on job, we talk about work. If we are parents, we talk about kids. We don't always talk "outside the box". As a result, we don't learn about other people around us. Master Minding compartmentalizes people too but the "compartment" is people who want to grow and thrive and create positive change in their lives and the lives of their families and communities. If that's the "compartment" you want to be in, Start a Master Mind Group. Click here if you can't see the player below. Choosing Members for Your Master Mind Group

One of the downfalls with collecting a group of people is that eventually they break off into cliques. When a group is small, the entire group can become it's own "clique". This doesn't allow a lot of room for personal growth because members will conform to the group norm versus exploring their individuality. So, who do you choose to be in your group and how do you choose them? Is it better to have a little or a lot in common with other members? In my experience, it's more effective if you know very little about your prospective group members because then you are free of expectations and stereotypes about them and they won't keep you bound to your past because they don't know the entire history of your ups and downs. Before I started my very first Master Mind group, I met with "Larry", a man who had many years of Master Mind experience. He gave me several bits of advice.  One thing he said was that mixed sex groups are not recommended and neither is a group of family members recommended. The main thing that each person in a Master Mind group should have in common is a vested interest in having a Master Mind group and the willingness to show up and to support others. It is not necessary for these members to have similar lifestyles, or religious beliefs. What's more important is to find people who will show up. You can't have a group without people. The reason Larry said not to have a mixed sex group is so there will be no hidden agenda between group members. Also, mixed sex groups and groups with family members have the same potential downfall: we bound people to stereotypes and we bound ourselves to the stereotypes other people have about us. If you follow the recommended format for the group and abide by the spirit of Master Minding, you will feel unbound and supported. You'll have the strength you need to realize your vision. Master Mind Monday – Four on the Floor is Cruising in the Direction of Fun and Service

Over the past couple of weeks I've been sharing an in-depth look into the power of Master Minding with the readers of this blog and the people on my Master Mind list who have downloaded the free goodies at Start a Master Mind Group.com It is amazing how much great stuff can happen in an unbelievably short period of time when love, support and focus are utilized. In just three meetings, Four on the Floor is moving forward rapidly on achieving our individual and group desires. Listen in here and see how we do it. My goals lately have a lot to do with living in line with authenticity, having fun and being of service. I was able to embrace those goals and live them out fully on Sunday when I roller skated in the Pride Parade in Long Beach. I'll be writing more about that on Galvanized Facebook Friday but if you'd like to see some of the photos from the event, including me with two top-notch drag queens, click here. The Pride Parade and Master Minding have at least one thing in common - embracing the concept that we are all different and there is no "right" or "wrong" way to live life.

Small Groups Can Change the World

Can a Master Mind group change the world? That's one of the questions that popped into my mind when I saw this quote:
"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed people can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has." - Margaret Meade
One thing I know for sure is that being in a Master Mind group has changed MY life and the lives of my Master Mind partners. I started my first Master Mind group in 1991 and at the time I was a waitress, a full-time student at Long Beach City College and I smoked a pack of cigarettes a day. My goals were to quit smoking, to finish my education and to do work that was meaningful and prosperous. I accomplished all of that and more. Start a Master Mind Group.comI'm currently in a Master Mind group called The Savvy Soul Sisters and it is changing my life even at this very moment. In fact, I'm so jazzed on all the benefits I've received from Master Minding that I decided to create a Master Mind training kit to share with others. The training kit will provide you with the structure for your Master Mind group. Whatever you want to focus on or make come true, it will be easier to do with the help of concentrated focus and group support.

Friendship Caused My Life to Shift and Birthed ‘The Sheri and Erin Show’

This morning I read an e-mail from Oprah. She posted a short video of Regie Hamm and asked her insider community to answer this question: "Regie Hamm found his fame on American Idol and his heart through a special needs child. What has caused your life to shift?" I responded with this answer:
In the past, all of my shifts in life came about from "hitting bottom. But this year I have experienced major shifts in my life as a result of love and friendship. About one year ago I had a "chance" meeting with Erin. We became fast friends and eventually we started our own BlogTalkRadio show. The conversations I have with Erin are life-transforming, mainly because of her ability to remain non-judgmental and to listen to what I have to say. I would like to think I offer the same benefit to her and we have both become a better version of our "Selves" because of this relationship. As a result of this relationship and our talk show together, we are able to reach out to others so they can also experience the impact of friendship, mutual respect and unconditional love. This is a very gratifying, soul-satisfying way to experience the shift and I hope to shift even more as I move toward my greater destiny.
In the same e-mail, Oprah posted a video blog about Marget & Joe – two people who managed to find an unlikely friendship 30,000 feet above sea level. Then she asked readers to write about how they found friendship in the most unlikely of places. Here's how I answered:
About one year ago I met my friend and co-host Erin at church. The fact that we met at church is no big deal. But what makes it seem miraculous is that she only went to this church one time and one time only and I am a sporadic attendee. So, the chances of us meeting were very slim. She was sitting in the after-church refreshment area alone and I invited her to sit next to me. I didn't know many people and I always liked it when someone made me feel welcome so I simply extended a gesture. We discovered instantly that we had many similar interests and we became fast friends. Over the past year we have had hundreds of phone conversations for thousands of hours. After 4 months of knowing each other, we started a BlogTalkRadio show so we could talk some more and also share our insights and favorite things with an internet audience. The experience of having a show has been so magical that we hope we can do even more and eventually get a T.V. talk show together. In any case, our friendship has impacted our lives and the lives of many others all because of a "chance" meeting.
I think it's important to share the good things in life with each other. On The Sheri and Erin Show we dedicate the second Thursday of the month to talk about Master Minding. This is a great way to build mutually respectful and supportive relationships with other people. Click on the player below to hear one of our shows about Master Minding or visit our show page today.
