Song #1 of the 2009 Galvanized Music Countdown

The number one song on the Galvanized Music Countdown is none other than Bonkers by Dizzee Rascal and Armand Van Helden. This is a fun tune about living your life and not caring what others think of you. Great to sing along and dance to. Here are a few sample lyrics: Some people think I'm bonkers but I just think I'm free Some people pay for thrills but I get mine for free Man I'm just livin' my life, there's nothing crazy 'bout me itunes_iconBuy Bonkers by Dizzee Rascal and Armand Van Helden on iTunes Watch video on YouTube Here are the final results of the 2009 Galvanized Music Countdown: #1 - Bonkers by Dizzee Rascal and Armand Van Helden #2 - Take That by Wiley (feat. Song #3 of the 2009 Galvanized Music Countdown

Song three on the countdown was the first song of the week for 2009: I am by Novel. I love the lyrics and how in the video each person has a light emanating from their chest/heart area, highlighting the fact that we are all one and that we are more than our bodies. I have replayed this song many times over the year as a way to remind myself of both of those things. Song #6 of the 2009 Galvanized Music Countdown

publicimageSong six on the countdown was released 30 years ago but thanks to YouTube, this year I experienced the song in a new way. I used to listen to PiL on my walkman and I always felt energized. Sometimes I even danced around when I heard it. But it never occurred to me that groups of young people would be going wild about it on American Banstand. John Lydon sure did know how to activate a crowd and watching him in action makes it worth bringing this song out of the vault. itunes_iconBuy Careering by Public Image Limited on iTunes. Song #8 of the 2009 Galvanized Music Countdown

Between Christmas Eve and New Years Eve I will post my top eight favorite songs of the year. These tunes were selected from the 51 songs of the week that were submitted by Michael Zampelli during 2009. Song number eight is Fight Riff by Eula. I like DIY feel of the video, reminiscent of the Clash and other artists from London who used the desert or an industrial wasteland as their set. Singer Elyse exudes an artistic flair with punk rock edge. It's a fun song with a strong beat and great to have on my iPod and listen to while I'm out for a walk. I recommend purchasing the entire Language of Threat EP. In the meantime, you can see the YouTube video here. Happy Holidays Apple iTunes
