Life-Changing Conversations and On-Going Support at Shore Books in Long Beach, CA

Monday, June 2nd, 2008

You know how sometimes someone can say something a certain way and it just “clicks?” A few consciously-constructed words can change your perception to the point where nothing is ever the same again. Have you ever been in a conversation where you’re so connected to what the other person is saying that you feel like they are reading your mind and speaking your thoughts? This is not in your imagination. People literally do feed off of each other’s energy and it’s amazing how the right people will just show up to fill the missing link…if we are ready.

Are you ready to stop the struggle with weight and eating? If you want to love your body and your life, you will join us at our weekly Donate Your Weight support group in Long Beach. This is part support group, part rap session. Everyone contributes which means the benefits are exponential and more powerful than passively listening to a speaker or reading a book. Not only that, the setting creates a climate that gives birth to meaningful, supportive and lasting relationships with group members.

Our format is similar to the Master Mind group philosophy revealed in the classic text, Think and Grow Rich. And though we concentrate on weight and eating issues, we understand that everything is connected. Sometimes the way to solve your weight problem is to go back to painting or ballet. You’ll never know how alive you can feel unless you dare to join us. I for one hope you will.

And by the way, when I say ‘we’, I mean me (Sheri Zampelli) and Dr. Marjorie Miles. We are both professionals with lots of education and strings of letters behind our name, but that’s not why you should come. You should come because we are human beings who have struggled immensely with weight and eating issues and now we are free. We want to share what’s worked for us with you because we think that just about anyone who wants to do this, can. (Just for point of reference, I am a former member of Overeater’s Anonymous and used to eat a 1/2 gallon of ice cream in one sitting during the height of my compulsivity).

Being free from weight and eating struggles allows us to pursue dreams and be immersed in life, NOW. When we had weight and eating struggles, our entire attention was consumed by food, fat and weight. Let’s face it ladies, that is a living hell. If you want out of prison, we can help you. Once that happens, you probably won’t even care about your weight and yet because of that, you will drop it automatically.

In the past few weeks, not a day goes by where someone doesn’t say, “you look like you lost weight.” Even my workout partner, Melina, who has to carry me piggy-back from one cone to another said last week, “you feel lighter.” I haven’t done anything different in relation to the types of food I eat but I have made a conscious effort to rid myself of toxic emotions, live in the now and enjoy some exhilarating and challenging workouts both with Jaiya at Your Next Victory and with the Derby Dolls during Fresh Meat practice.

I don’t know how much I weigh and yet I’m sitting here blogging in my back yard wearing size 6 jeans that feel a little loose. Last year they were tight and I was worried about it. I used to TRY to make myself lose weight, now I allow myself to release weight. This has worked for many people, not just me and it really is just a modification of everything you’re told to do in readings like The Secret, I Create Reality, Ekhart Tolle, A Course in Miracles and yes, even The Bible.
