Life is The Only Thing Worth Living For

Thursday, July 9th, 2009

old_fliersToday my brother sent me an e-mail with the title : “flipper next weekend in sf — i’m there!”

I immediately got excited for him and a tad bit jealous and then, the bass line for “Life” started playing in my head. I had to run to my iTunes and crank it up.

No truer words have been spoken: Life is the only thing worth living for.

Of course I couldn’t help to also reminisce about the roadtrip I took with my friends in the 80’s. We drove from Los Angeles to San Francisco and our soul mission was a see Flipper. (See the yellow flyer from the show in the photo above which I still cherish).

Mission accomplished and well worth sleeping in the car for :)

Here’s the video from YouTube, granted, the visuals are lacking but close your eyes and listen and you’ll get the picture. Or, better yet, keep your eyes wide open and scream along. I included the lyrics below.

Lyrics for Life

I
too
have sung death’s praises
But
I’m
not
gonna sing that song anymore

‘Cause
I’ve
found
out
what living is all about
and its Life! Life!
Life is the only thing worth living for
Yeah life! life!
Life is the only thing worth…
Life! life!
(I know it has its ups and downs)

A Night of Music at SUB-Mission in San Francisco

Sitting on the pot, taking a shot at SUB-Mission in San Francisco

Sitting on the pot, taking a shot at SUB-Mission in San Francisco

A few weeks ago I went on a road trip to San Francisco. It was great to get away and hang out with my brother.

We visitied a new club called SUB-Mission and had a rip-roaring good time.

As the bands (Skitzo/Savage Machine/Farticus/Cretacious/Fluff Grrlz) spewed out their version of 80’s hardcore metal/punk, and as guys and gals stood watching with their arms crossed and heads bobbing, I pranced around in the audience, pink flower in hair trying to nudge people into action.

The highlight of the night is when I was running around in circles creating my own mosh pit and the singer from Farticus basically jumped me. The two off us were locked tight, she was singing, I was holding her and time stood still as I thought to myself, “holy crap, what do I do now?”

What I did was set the singer back on stage and go on about the business of actin’ a fool. The next day, as my brother and I recounted the evenings events, I said, “now that’s life…THAT is living in the moment.” I can guarantee you, it will never happen again.

Evidently, someone caught my insanity on video. I’m the blur that you see going by during the video and the one who the singer, Vag jumps on at about 1:56. I’m not sure if I’m proud or humiliated but one thing is for darn sure, I had fun!

So get out of the darn house once in a while and have some fun. If you’re in San Francisco, check out SUB-Mission. It’s located in the Mission District and the SUB stands for: Strength, Unity, Brotherhood.

The Making of a Rare Chocolate Experience

Thursday, January 8th, 2009

In my last post I shared with you the entire process of indulging in TCHO chocolate. But there’s more. Here’s a behind-the-scenes video of the making of TCHO as a creative company. I find it fascinating to learn all the small details that go into the production of a concept. Every little thing really does make a difference.

Donate Your Weight by Sheri ZampelliBy the way, I think part of the reason people struggle with weight and eating is because they just don’t enjoy enough good food. Many of us crave a feeling of fulfillment that can never be satisfied with bland, toxic, processed food. Diet food is the worst culprit of all.

So, If you’re gonna eat chocolate, make it great chocolate. And if you’re sick of struggling with your weight, try the Donate Your Weight program, it’s all about loving yourself and creating a healthy lifestyle, with lots of attention to the small details that make a big difference.

Chocolate Indulgence and Obsession Done Right – TCHO

Thursday, January 8th, 2009

Eating chocolate meets trading baseball cards or \"collecting the whole set\"If you’re gonna indulge anyway, might as well take it to the max. That’s certainly what TCHO “Flavor Driven Chocolate for a new Generation” has done. Unwrapping the packaging alone is a multi-sensory treat.

The process begins with peeling the clear sticker circles away from the sturdy brown box which is filled with a colorful palette of flavors. Tug on the silk ribbon and make your choice: “Nutty”, “Citrus”, “Fruity” or “Chocolately”.

Then, tenderly pull the Flavor Wheel sticker away from the opening tab, unfold the cardboard and become mesmerized by the shiny gold inner-wrapping. Carefully unfold the gold wrapping and find a square of dark chocolate that’s sectioned into other, smaller squares. The large square is embossed with a finely etched, artistic pattern that leaves one wondering, “how the heck did they do that?”

Unwrapping TCHO Chocolate is a very erotic experience ;)Finally, the time has come to break away a piece of chocolate, set it in your mouth and let it melt. See if you can tell the difference between each of the four flavors and kick back to enjoy. This definitely ain’t the kind of chocolate that you pop in your mouth and gobble down with a few chews. Talk about savoring the experience, these guys have it nailed.

Thanks to my brother Matt for this box of chocolate that just keeps on giving, long after the holidays have ended.
