Noel Gallagher of Oasis Pushed by a Heckler – a Victimology Lesson

In Victimology class we talk about how the actions of one person impacts many. This video is a perfect example. It would be tempting and common to look at this video and get caught in the drama. It would be easy to judge it and analyze it. I challenge you to do this: notice, that in a crowd of thousands, only one punk guy caused the whole problem. One guy put a halt to a concert and created negative vibes for thousands of people. Sometimes we forget to look at the big picture because we are zeroed in on the drama. We fail to realize how much we have in common, how powerful unity could be. Please take a moment to consider it. Just for laughs :)

How Laws and Strong Opinions Impact Your Life

In my Introduction to Victimology class we are talking about how one person and their dedication can change laws that impact many people's lives. We talked about MADD as one example. We discussed how one individual is unlikely to sway an organization in power but a group of individuals can and will if they remain united and persistent. South Dakota anti-choice activist Leslee Unruh is an example of someone who is attempting to impact policy now. I just read a fascinating article that quoted Unruh as saying "Planned Parenthood wants to sexualize children and that taking oral contraceptives is like ingesting pesticides. She went on to tell me that masturbation is dangerous, that abortion increases the risk of breast cancer, and that young girls should pledge to give themselves as a “wedding gift” to their husbands." This woman has many powerful supporters I imagine. While America sits on the couch and watches Dancing With the Stars, she's out talking to policy makers and pushing her agenda. So, I was thinking I would post this here for our classmates to read and comment on. If you found us some other way, feel free to introduce yourself and comment.
