Get a Workout Partner or Team – Get Better Results, Have More Fun

Working out alone can be an oasis of solitude on a busy day, but maybe you are beginning to feel bored with your exercise routine. If so, try exercising or walking with a friend. Exercise companions add a social element to any routine. Ask a friend to be your workout partner or check out Meetup.com to find fellow exercisers in your area. You won't skip a workout if someone is waiting on you. Plus, you might just give it that extra push when someone you know is watching. Most of all, it is great to have the support of someone who cares cheering you. Several revolutionary, elite trainers such as Jaiya Figueras of Your Next Victory.com are using the team concept to add motivation to group workouts.  If you need a boost in your motivation, try working out with a trainer who employs the group concept.

Six Ways Exercise Helps You Beat the Recession

Sheri Zampelli hooping on the Roy Anthony showIs your budget giving you the blues? Exercise is a proven depression-buster among other things. In fact, exercising at home with your own equipment can help you get some serious bang for your buck. Here are the benefits of working out at home, listening to your own cool music versus paying a membership fee at a gym you never go to anyway: 1. Save on heating costs - You'll get so hot from exercise that you'll be tempted to turn on the air conditioner, but never the heater 2. Entertain yourself - What a great way to pass the time; listening to music and moving your body 3. Reap all the benefits of exercise - You know, all that good stuff like your heart, your lungs, your blood, your skin, they all love it 4. Manage you moods - on-going, vigorous exercise will keep depression and anxiety at bay 5. Set your own stage - At home, you have complete control of the music selection and 100% freedom to lip-synch and play air guitar. At Bally's Fitness, you'd probably hesitate before screaming out "You gotta fight for your right to party". At home, you are free to blurt these things out with wreckless abandon Xena Warrior Princess. Host on your own server. 6. Prepare for "battle" - whether it's a battle of the mind, a job you're less than excited about or the need to kick some serious arse, regular, vigorous exercise will give you a mental and physical boost that can help you take control of other aspects of your life From Sabotage to Success by Sheri Zampelli If negative self-talk, poor body image or being "too busy" often prevents you from adhering to your exercise routine, maybe my book From Sabotage to Success will help. I also frequently post workout playlists with songs that motivate me to move my body, check 'em out, they might motivate you too.

Peace Tour Hits Long Beach – Bluff Park/Belmont Shore Leg

Jaiya Figueras and Sheri ZampelliThe other day I blogged about freewayblogger.com and how I wanted to put up peace signs on 9/11. Well, I decided to put my money where my mouth is and to drag the Trainer on the Corner along with me. We put on skates and plastered fliers all along the street and bike path while we also had signs pinned to ourselves. We had a blast. He brought his video camera. Watch our fun video and read about the highlights below. Here are some highlights:
  • We met a woman named Krista. She was walking her two dogs and stopped to ask what we were doing . She let us safety pin a "Love" sign to her back and she wore it on her walk.
  • People waved, gave us the "thumbs up" signal and honked their horns all morning.
  • The Jamba Juice girl, dressed in her finest banana suit stopped to have her picture taken with us. At the same time, we looked around to notice people taking pictures of us having our picture taken.
  • The (owner? manager?..I should have gotten her name) from Archibald's came out of her business to shoot photos of us as we were posting signs across the street. We decided to skate over and say hi. She had her picture taken with us and let us put peace and love signs in her window. She also gave us both American flags and pinned them to our shirts for us.
  • A small group of Asian seniors turned around in their chairs and grinned ear to ear as they watched the entire spectacle.
  • We skated into the Gazette offices and told them if they want a positive news story, here we are. They were on a deadline but we'll go ahead and e-mail them later.
By the way, if you subscribe to this you can get a PDF of all three of the signs we've posted so far, the Laugh sign, the Peace Sign and the Love sign. You'll also get a free PDF: Songs to Galvanize Your Mind. Look for the sign up box on this page or go to: http://sherizampelli.com.
