Song of the Week – 5-4-10 – I Am Not a Robot by Marina and the Diamonds

Tuesday, May 4th, 2010

I Am Not a Robot by Marina and the Diamonds Lyrics

You’ve been acting awful tough lately
Smoking a lot of cigarettes lately
But inside, you’re just a little baby
It’s okay to say you’ve got a weak spot
You don’t always have to be on top
Better to be hated than love, love, loved for what you’re not

You’re vulnerable, you’re vulnerable
You are not a robot
You’re loveable, so loveable
But you’re just troubled

Guess what? I’m not a robot, a robot
Guess what? I’m not a robot, a robot

You’ve been hanging with the unloved kids
Who you never really liked and you never trusted
But you are so magnetic, you pick up all the pins
Never committing to anything
You don’t pick up the phone when it ring, ring, rings
Don’t be so pathetic, just open up and sing

I’m vulnerable, I’m vulnerable
I am not a robot
You’re loveable, so loveable
But you’re just troubled

Guess what? I’m not a robot, a robot
Guess what? I’m not a robot, a robot

Can you teach me how to feel real?
Can you turn my power on?
Well, let the drum beat drop

Guess what? I’m not a robot
Guess what? I’m not a robot

Guess what? I’m not a robot, a robot
Guess what? I’m not a robot, a robot
Guess what? I’m not a robot, a robot
Guess what? I’m not a robot, a robot

This video with lyrics included is all about taking charge of your life and it all begins by taking charge of your mind. One of the first lyrics is “half the kids that you grew up with were pushin’ prams by the time that they were just sixteen” then later, those same kids “aren’t pushin’ prams are pushin’ pills to boys and girls who are half their age” (In case you aren’t familiar with the word pram it refers to what most American’s call a baby stroller.)From Sabotage to Success by Sheri Zampelli

I’m here to tell you it’s never too late to change your mind and thereby change the course of your life. If you need help, there is a free MP3 hypnosis download at icreatehabits.com titled Create the Life You Want.

Music to Soar Like a Superhero

Saturday, October 10th, 2009

steviewondersongslifeOkay, maybe this only applies if you’re over 40 but the truth is, when I hear funk and soul from the 70’s I feel like a superhero.

I think afros and bell bottoms, I think bangs and wings in your hair. I think platforms, Elton John and Wonder Woman. I especially think dancing…you know, like Soul Train or something. I looked forward to Soul Train every Saturday morning. How about you?

wonderwomanIf so, you’ll probably like the Stevie Wonder channel I created on Pandora.com. Come check it out if you want to groove 70’s style.

Pandora makes for great background music while you’re working. There are very few commercials and the sounds are exactly what you want them to be.

Here’s a video from YouTube with a little Soul Train action. I used to try and steal these moves when I was 10.

Song of the Week – 9-1-09 – The Uprising by Muse

Tuesday, September 1st, 2009

Watch/Listen on YouTube.

Will you be victorious or will the paranoia pull you in?

Lyrics for Uprising by Muse

The paranoia is in bloom, the PR
The transmissions will resume
They’ll try to push drugs
Keep us all dumbed down and hope that
We will never see the truth around

Another promise, another scene, another
A package not to keep us trapped in greed
With all the green belts wrapped around our minds
And endless red tape to keep the truth confined

They will not force us
They will stop degrading us
They will not control us
We will be victorious

Interchanging mind control
Come let the revolution take it’s toll if you could
Flick the switch and open your third eye, you’d see that
We should never be afraid to die

Rise up and take the power back, it’s time that
The fat cats had a heart attack, you know that
Their time is coming to an end
We have to unify and watch our flag ascend

They will not force us
They will stop degrading us
They will not control us
We will be victorious

They will not force us
They will stop degrading us
They will not control us
We will be victorious

You’ve Got The Power, A Musical Reminder

Thursday, July 23rd, 2009

Just in case you needed a reminder (I did), you’ve got the power. Don’t have to buy it, don’t have to earn it, it’s just there. I’m gonna use it all day, everyday.

I’ve Got The Power Lyrics by Snap

I’ve got the power
hey yeah heh

Like the crack of the whip I snap attack
Front to back in this thing called rap
Dig it like a shovel rhyme devil
On a heavenly level
Bang the bass turn up the treble
Radical mind day and night all the time
Seven to fourteen Wise, Divine
Maniac brainiac winning the game
I’m the lyrical Jesse James

Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh yeah-eah-eah-eah-eah-eah
Gettin’ kinda heavy

It’s gettin’ it’s gettin’ it’s gettin’ kinda heavy
It’s gettin’ it’s gettin’ it’s gettin’ kinda heavy
It’s gettin’ it’s gettin’ it’s gettin’ kinda heavy
It’s gettin’ it’s gettin’ it’s gettin’ kinda heavy

It’s gettin’ it’s gettin’ it’s gettin’ kinda hectic
It’s gettin’ it’s gettin’ it’s gettin’ kinda hectic
It’s gettin’ it’s gettin’ it’s gettin’ kinda hectic

Quality I possess, some say I’m fresh
When my voice goes through the rest
Of the microphone that I am holdin’
Copywritten lyrics so they can’t be stolen
If they are, Snap!
Don’t need the police to try to save them
Your voice will seize so please stay off my back
Or I will attack and you don’t want that

I’ve got the power
He’s gonna break my heart
He’s gonna break my heart of hearts
He’s gonna break my heart
He’s gonna break my heart of hearts
I’ve got the power oh-oh-oh-oh

Song of the Week – 2-24-09 – Spaceman by The Killers

Tuesday, February 24th, 2009

This week’s song will have you questioning your perception. I couldn’t embed the video here because of YouTube restrictions, but you can watch the video on YouTube. It’s pretty cool. The sound reminds me of 80’s UK pop like The Cure, New Order or Depeche Mode.
.
.
.
.
.
.
Here are the lyrics. Notice how many times he says “It’s all in your mind?”:

oh oh oh oh oh oh oooah x4

It started with a low light,
Next thing I knew they ripped me from my bed;
And then they took my blood type,
It left a strange impression in my head.
You know that I was hoping,
That I could leave this star-crossed world behind;
But when they cut me open,
I guess that changed my mind.
And you know I might
Have just flown too far from the floor this time,
’cause they calling me by my name
And the zipping white light beams
disregards the bombs and satellites

That was the turning point;
That was one lonely night

The song maker says, “It ain’t so bad”
The dream maker’s going make you mad
The spaceman says, “Everybody look down
Its all in your mind”

Well now I’m back at home, and-
I’m looking forward to this life I live;
You know its gonna haunt me,
So hesitation to this life I give.
You think you might cross over,
You’re caught between the devil and the deep blue sea;
You better look it over,
Before you make that leap

And you know I’m fine,
but I hear those voices at night sometimes-
they justify my claim,
and the public don’t dwell my transmission
’cause it wasn’t televised

But, it was the turning point,
Oh what a lonely night

The song maker says, “It ain’t so bad”
The dream maker’s going make you mad;
The spaceman says, “Everybody look down
Its all in your mind”

The song maker says, “It ain’t so bad”
The dream maker’s going make you mad;
The spaceman says, “Everybody look down
Its all in your mind”

My global position systems are vocally addressed;
They say the Nile used to run from east to west,
They say the Nile used to run – from east to west.

And you know I’m fine,
but I hear those voices at night,
sometimes

The song maker says, “It ain’t so bad”
The dream maker’s going make you mad;
The spaceman says, “Everybody look down
Its all in your mind”
The song maker says, “It ain’t so bad”
The dream maker’s going make you mad;
The spaceman says, “Everybody look down
Its all in your mind”

It’s all in my mi-i-ind,
It’s all in my mind…
It’s all in my mind…
It’s all in my mind…
It’s all in my mind

oh oh oh oh oh oh oooah x8

Song of the Week – 2-10-09- Lost by Coldplay (feat. Jay Z)

Lost lyrics by Coldplay featuring Jay Z

Just because I’m losing
Doesn’t mean I’m lost
Doesn’t mean I’ll stop
Doesn’t mean I’m across

Just because I’m hurting
Doesn’t mean I’m hurt
Doesn’t mean I didn’t get what I deserved
No better and no worse

I just got lost
Every river that I tried to cross
Every door I ever tried was locked
Oh and I’m just waiting ’til the shine wears off

You might be a big fish
In a little pond
Doesn’t mean you’ve won
‘Cause along may come
A bigger one

468x60Blondbanner

And you’ll be lost
Every river that you tried to cross
Every gun you ever held went off
Oh and I’m just waiting until the firing stopped
Oh and I’m just waiting ’til the shine wears off

[Jay-Z]
Aha, I gotcha, uh…
With the same sword they knight you, they gon’ good night you with
Shit, that’s only half if they like you
That ain’t even the half what they might do
Don’t believe me, ask Michael
See Martin, see Malcolm
See Biggie, see Pac, see success and its outcome
See Jesus, see Judas
See Caesar, see Brutus, see success is like suicide
Suicide, it’s a suicide
If you succeed, prepare to be crucified
Media meddles, niggaz sue you, you settle
Every step you take, they remind you you’re ghetto
So it’s tough being Bobby Brown
To be Bobby then, you have to be Bobby now
And the question is, “Is to have had and lost
Better than not having at all?”
Because I’m…

Oh and I’m, just waiting ’til the shine wears off
Oh and I’m, just waiting ’til the shine wears off
